By way of explanation

By way of explanation, we posted the video of Rickie Lee Jones (previous blog post) because she is a huge influence musically for both Pam and me. Actually she's much more than an influence for me. I've seen her play live many times and her performances always leaves me feeling inspired. Once I went to an RLJ show - it was to promote the album Ghostyhead, which is now out of print because it was too "ahead of it's time" in my humble opinion. I just love how Rickie does things waaaay outside the box. Anyway, I went to the merch table at this show and there was only one thing for sale there. It was a notebook with her original art on the cover and a quote from the song "Matters" (now check out that song and listen to the lyrics!). The rest of the book was blank, which I could only take as an invitation to create my OWN art, make my own statement. I have always remembered that and called on it when I've needed inspiration.

xo, Jeri
